Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell made unique franchise history with their dominant performances in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 29-24 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.
Both running backs have been active in the Steelers’ offense, showing solid chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. For this game, they ended up torching the Lions’ defense in many ways.
Warren led the rushing attack with 14 carries for 143 yards and two touchdowns while making two catches for eight yards. On the other hand, Gainwell came next with nine rushes for 50 yards while recording five receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Their efforts ended up making franchise history, per reporter Brooke Pryor. Having over 100 scrimmage yards and a touchdown each is something the organization hasn’t seen since the mid-1990s.
“Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell are the first Steelers RB duo with 100 scrimmage yards and a TD each in the same game since Barry Foster and Bam Morris did it against the Colts in 1994,” Pryor wrote.
