Steelers defensive lineman Dean Lowry suffered a torn ACL earlier in training camp, the defender posted on his Instagram Tuesday.
“During a training camp practice last week I sustained an ACL injury that will likely end my season,” he wrote. “Hard to comprehend the thoughts and emotions I have felt since then. Heartbroken I won’t get to fully experience the highs and lows of an NFL season with a group I love going to work with. The risks associated with this game and the unique aspect of a football team are what make this sport like no other. I’m completely resolved to turn this negative into a positive with gratitude each step of the way.”
The Steelers placed Lowry on injured reserve on Aug. 2, signing veteran nose tackle Breiden Fehoko to fill his roster spot.
Lowry, 31, was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2016. He spent the 2024 season with the Steelers, appearing in 12 games, starting one, and logging one sack at five combined tackles. He’s in the last year of a two-year, $5 million contract he signed with Pittsburgh in 2024.
