PITTSBURGH — Jalen Ramsey said he did. Ja’Marr Chase said he didn’t. The video agrees more with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive back.
Ramsey, a 10th-year NFL veteran, was thrown from Sunday’s 34-12 Steelers win after grabbing the Cincinnati Bengals receiver’s facemask and punching him. He explained why he lost his cool afterward.
“He spit on me, so it’s up. I don’t give a fuck about football after that — respectfully,” Ramsey said. “I’m always gonna be all for trash-talking, shit-talking, stuff like that. I actually enjoy that part of the game. I think people know that. And that’s what we (were) doing. I mean, after the first one — the first little thing — the play before, he tried to, like, crack block me or whatever. I got up off that and then we got up talking shit or whatever and he snatched my mouthpiece off my facemask, and that’s when I pushed his facemask.”

Ramsey called what led to the mutual unsportsmanlike conduct penalties “a little scuffle.”
“The refs told us right after that, like, ‘Hey, y’all, chill. No more of this, ” Ramsey said. “Cool. So I’m knowing, like, ‘Alright, let’s talk shit, but let’s keep it clean so everybody stay in or whatever.’ The next play, same shit. We (were) talking shit, for real, for real, which I’m cool with. … Yeah, soon as he spit, it was, ‘Fuck that.’ Yeah, I ain’t gonna tolerate that part of it.”
Chase denied spitting on Ramsey after saying they’d been “exchanging words.”
“I ain’t never opened my mouth to that guy,” Chase said when asked directly asked if he spit on Ramsey. “He (didn’t) like some of the words I told him. We’d been going back and forth the whole time, so I’m sure something got under his skin. … I didn’t spit on nobody.”
Ramsey wants the NFL to take a look at what happened.
“They got 100 cameras out there. They can investigate,” Ramsey said. “They can see everything.”
