🏈 Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants to see the Steelers get their run game going.

“We gotta run the ball. They play two-high, you gotta run the ball,” Rodgers said. “We gotta run the football against these combo coverages and two-high coverages. So you run the football, you have a chance to have some good play action stuff.”

🏈 Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger thinks the “standard should be shifted” in regard to stopping the run.

“I know that there were seasons when I was there in Pittsburgh where it was like if the opposing team had 101 yards [rushing], the defense was mad, no one wanted to talk to anybody. I know the standard is the standard, but maybe the standard should be shifted a little bit,” Roethlisberger said on his Footbahlin podcast.

🏈 New England Patriots color analyst Scott Zolak does not expects Patriots All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez to play on Sunday against the Steelers.

Head coach Mike Vrabel revealed on Monday that Gonzalez could be active. Gonzalez has not practiced since the end of July, having been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

“There’s a chance,” Vrabel said on WEEI on Monday when asked about Gonzalez’s status for the Steelers game.

🏈 Despite a historically bad start on offense, Steelers inside linebacker Patrick Queen said there is no panic.

“It’s no panic. The vibes are high. It’s just a point of us going out there and emphasizing it in practice, every single play, not taking no shortcuts,” Queen said.

🏈 Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf said the Steelers are focusing on the smaller details this week.

“Just being better with our details, smaller things. It was one play here and there, one person not getting their assignment down to the best of their ability, and it turned into a negative play,” Metcalf said. “Or something didn’t work out in our favor, so just making sure we’re dialed in on the details.”

🏈 Former Buffalo Bills general manager and Steelers executive Doug Whaley is frustrated with how the Steelers are deploying cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

“You are one of the top cover corners, press cover corners in the era that you played. We’re gonna put you on number one receiver for the rest of the year. (Joey Porter Jr.), you be a student of him and you learn how to be that number one, lockdown corner. So guess what that does? Gives you a lockdown corner now and it gives you one in waiting and then you can do your rest of your defense off of that,” Whaley said on 93.7 The Fan. “They’re not doing that. Let’s move them here, there, there. That’s that coaching like, ‘Oh, I’m going to outsmart them,’ and it’s backfiring. So just line up and play. You have these dogs that you believe are dogs. Put ’em in a position just to do what they do and stop...
