PITTSBURGH — Cornerback Darius Slay did not participate in Pittsburgh Steelers practice on Thursday, due to personal reasons.
Slay, the team’s starting outside cornerback, had been a full participant in the first practice of the week on Wednesday.
Brandin Echols has been the fourth cornerback on the Steelers’ depth chart all season and would likely replace Slay if he missed any playing time in Sunday’s Week 9 home game against the Indianapolis Colts.
James Pierre is the other backup cornerback on the Steelers’ 53-man roster. Cory Trice has been expected to return from the injured reserve list soon, but he suffered an injury setback at practice on Thursday, putting his status going forward in jeopardy.
