Pittsburgh Steelers second-year cornerback Beanie Bishop disrespected the Pitt logo at the South Side facility.

Pittsburgh Steelers second-year cornerback Beanie Bishop is receiving some backlash after crossing enemy lines at the South Side practice facility this week.

The former West Virginia defensive back went to the University of Pittsburgh portion of the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex facility and recorded himself wiping his cleats on the Pitt logo, which he shared on Instagram.

Bishop was welcomed into the Backyard Brawl rivalry back in 2023, his lone season at West Virginia. He intercepted Pitt quarterback Phil Jurkovec in the Mountaineers’ 17-6 victory that season in Morgantown. He also had seven tackles.

The 25-year-old has not been shy in expressing his dislike for the Pitt Panthers, either. He shared his thoughts on the rivalry following the Steelers OTAs practice on Tuesday.

“Yea for sure, just like every other rivalry,” Bishop said via Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “It’s hatred. You don’t have no respect for those guys. I really don’t even like seeing their coaches and players out here watching us practice. I’m kind of out-numbered. I don’t think it should be Week 2, Week 3. I think it should be a part of rivalry week.”

Bishop currently only shares a locker room with one former Pitt Panther, UDFA kicker Ben Sauls. However, he will have to choose his words and actions more wisely with just a couple walls between him and the entire Pitt Panthers team.

Bishop impressed as an undrafted free agent rookie in 2024. He had 45 tackles (30 solo), one fumble recovery, four interceptions and seven passes defensed and was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month after recording three interceptions in back-to-back games, two of which came against four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
