PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers starting center Zach Frazier was downgraded from a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice to a did not practice designation for Thursday’s session, but he still believes he’ll be able to play this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Frazier is dealing with a left calf injury that he suffered during the Cincinnati Bengals game in Week 7. Head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that there were a few players that would be banged up and might miss practice time during the week. It’s not clear if he intended to include Frazier in that group, but Frazier himself said he’s still confident in his availability for Sunday night.
“I think I’ll be good,” he said. “I’m just kind of resting it right now.”
If Frazier can’t play, veteran Ryan McCollum is next in line for the Steelers, as he did for two games last season.
T.J. Watt was listed as a limited participant in practice on Thursday, Oct. 23, with a hip injury. It’s not clear when the injury occurred or how it might impact his status for Sunday’s Week 8 home game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. Head coach Mike Tomlin did not mention him in his rundown of Steelers injuries on Tuesday. Watt usually speaks with the media on Fridays before Sunday games.
