The Steelers will don their color rush uniforms on Monday Night Football. With an 8-3 record in the uniform, it comes in for a playoff push.
As the Pittsburgh Steelers turn their attention to Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins, they control their own playoff destiny. While the elements may make things tough on the team from South Beach, the Steelers are also bringing in reinforcements: color rush uniforms. In these uniforms, they are 8-3 going into Monday Night.
Pittsburgh loves its black and gold. The color rush uniforms embody that design and have seen a number of memorable games for the Steelers.
The color rush debuted on Christmas 2016 against the Baltimore Ravens. In that game, the Steelers overcame a 10-point deficit and won 31-27 on a last-second goalline extension by wide receiver Antonio Brown. The play has been dubbed “the Immaculate Extension” by some.
Most recently, Pittsburgh donned the uniform at home in 2024 against the New York Giants. The Steelers came away victorious 26-18. In that game, Calvin Austin III scored two touchdowns–one on a punt return and another on a deep pass from quarterback Russell Wilson.
The Dolphins are not unfamiliar with this uniform, either. In 2019, the Steelers hosted Miami on Monday Night Football. In that game, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Dolphins to a 14-0 lead. Steelers signal caller Mason Rudolph then led a 27-0 run to win 27-14.
With the AFC North lead on the line, Pittsburgh will need every advantage the can get to close out the final four regular-season games. On Monday night, the Steelers will also introduce three more former Steelers into the Hall of Honor.
