Free agent wide receiver Gabe Davis is flying to Pittsburgh for a second free-agent visit with the team, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Davis first visited the Steelers back in June, and has taken several visits with other NFL teams. The former Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars receiver has been recovering from a knee injury that limited him to 10 games in 2024.

His ability to pass a physical coming off that injury has been cited as a reason the former 800-yard receiver has been unsigned to this point in the offseason, but the Steelers have remained interested despite him leaving his first visit without a contract.

Even after acquiring tight end Jonnu Smith in a blockbuster trade with the Miami Dolphins, the Steelers remained interested in Davis, according to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN in late June.

Davis totaled 20 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns through 10 games in Jacksonville last season. The Jaguars released Davis one season into a three-year, $39 million contract with a failed physical designation this spring.

Over four seasons before that with the Bills, he pulled in 163 passes for 2,700 yards and 27 touchdowns, and was a key downfield threat for Josh Allen.

If he signs with the Steelers, Davis will give Arthur Smith a complement to DK Metcalf in terms of outside receivers, and a second player that is an elite deep threat. In his career, Davis has averaged over 16 yards per reception.

He would also join a thin wide receivers room that is dealing with injuries to projected starter Calvin Austin III and versatile backup and special teamer Ben Skowronek.
