The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing back defensive back Beanie Bishop to the team via their practice squad after Tuesday’s cut downs.

After Tuesday’s cut-down deadline, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a number of moves. A few of those were surprising. One of those was the waiving of defensive back Beanie Bishop. However, on Wednesday, reports surfaced that Bishop is returning to the Steelers.

Bishop, who came to the Steelers in 2024 as an undrafted free agent, was in a heated battle after the acquisitions of three cornerbacks in the offseason. Despite being waived, he went unclaimed.

The former West Virginia Mountaineer now returns to Pittsburgh on a practice squad deal. It is expected that the Steelers will fill out their practice squad, and one of their first moves will bring back Bishop.

Despite his undrafted status, Bishop made a fair number of splash plays for the Steelers in 2024. He recorded four interceptions, two of which were against the new Steelers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.

After the return of Cam Sutton in the second half of the season, Bishop saw limited playing time. This led to more offseason acquisitions and Bishop needing to battle his way back in.

With the practice squad roster being finalized and the initial 53-man roster set, expect the Steelers to continue to make moves. They could still aim to bring back players released on Tuesday and make further acquisitions.
