The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed rookie guard Aiden Williams, the team announced on Thursday, completing their 17-man practice squad.
Williams was waived as the Steelers made their final cuts to the 53-man roster limit on Tuesday. He cleared waivers on Wednesday, but did not re-sign with the team until Thursday.
An undrafted rookie out of Division II Minnesota-Duluth, Williams started his collegiate career as a tight end before moving to tackle. With the Steelers, he made the transition to guard, where he played in the team’s first preseason game before a left knee injury kept him out for the rest of the preseason.
Williams played 54 snaps in the open against the Jacksonville Jaguars, all at right guard. He had 32 pass-block snaps and allowed just one pressure, per Pro Football Focus, giving him a pass blocking efficiency of 98.3.
After the injury, Williams did not return to practice until Monday’s session right before he was released.
The Steelers first scouted the 6-foot-5, 314-pound native of Anchorage, Alaska at the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl.
Williams’ return means that the Steelers have three offensive linemen on their practice squad, in addition to 10 on the active roster. Williams joined tackle Dylan Cook and guard/tackle Steven Jones on the 17-player practice squad.
Players on the practice squad are free to sign with other teams at any time. The Steelers have a maximum of 17 slots on their practice squad, which is usually filled by a combination of players the team released and cuts from other squads.
