For the fourth straight season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are throwing back their end zones. The Steelers are painting their end zones gold for their Monday Night Football home game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 15, the fourth straight year that the Steelers have brought back the Three Rivers Stadium-style gold end zones.
The gold end zones also have featured the words marks Pittsburgh and Steelers, with the AFC and NFL logos alongside. The Steelers wait until the end of the season to paint the end zones gold ever year, since they share the stadium with the Pitt Panthers.
The Steelers brought back the tradition for their game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Eve in 2022, when they retired Franco Harris’ No. 32 jersey. It also marked the 50th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception.
This year, the team will be inducting legends Joey Porter Sr., Maurkice Pouncey and Ben Roethlisberger into their Hall of Honor.
The end zones look incredible. Has that “post season” feel. The new sod has had two weeks to take root and should be in perfect condition per a stadium crew member. @steelers and @Browns kick off here at 1pm. @PghSteelersNow #NFL #Steelers pic.twitter.com/DZ9WC7K7R4

Like that first throwback end zone game in 2023 against the Raiders, when the game-time temperatures were in the single digits, it’s expected to be cold on Monday night, with the high temperature on Monday currently forecast at just 21 degrees and the low in the teens.
Two of the last three Miami trips to Pittsburgh have involved snow or cold weather, with frigid temps during a 2017 playoff game and snow covering the field during a 2013 Steelers loss.
