The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping for a great season in 2026, with Aaron Rodgers back at the helm. Pittsburgh is receiving some criticism though ahead of the campaign. ESPN reporter Dan Graziano feels the team has fumbled their quarterback situation this offseason.

In fact, the reporter feels this has happened for the last few years.

“There isn’t a playoff-type team that has taken the quarterback position less seriously than the Steelers have over the past three years. It’s as if the Kenny Pickett first-round flop broke their will and they’ve decided it’s just not worth it to try for real answers,” the reporter wrote.

Rodgers led the team in 2025. The veteran quarterback took the team to the NFL Playoffs once again, but couldn’t get a win in the postseason. Pittsburgh got shellacked by the Houston Texans.

Rodgers may be back, but last year’s coach isn’t. Mike Tomlin decided to step down and Mike McCarthy is now head coach.

“In came Mike McCarthy to replace him, and the Steelers are going in this time with a 42-year-old Rodgers who’s coming off the most meh seasons in the history of meh,” Graziano wrote.

The ESPN writer is not convinced that the team will be able to do better in 2026, than it did last season.

“The overall roster looks better than it did a year ago, but the coaching change and the refusal to look anywhere else but Rodgers for a QB solution make Pittsburgh feel like a franchise whose ceiling is well established at this point,” the writer added.

Time will tell how the Steelers fare in 2026. Along with Rodgers, Pittsburgh has two young inexperienced quarterbacks in Will Howard and rookie Drew Allar. Mason Rudolph is also still with the team.
