STEELERS INJURY UPDATES

Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (hamstring), strong safety DeShon Elliott (knee) and outside linebacker Alex Highsmith (ankle) have all been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Brandin Echols, Chuck Clark and Nick Herbig are expected to replace them.

Defensive tackle Derrick Harmon is questionable to play after being a full participant in Friday’s practice, his first time as a full participant in practice after his preseason knee injury.

Guard Max Scharping was placed on the injured reserve list after suffering an ACL injury in practice.

The Steelers signed running back Trey Sermon from the practice squad to the 53-man roster to replace Scharping.

THE LAST TIME

The Pittsburgh Steelers completed one of the darkest weeks in recent franchise history, losing 21-18 to the bottom-dwelling Patriots on Dec. 7, 2023. The Thursday Night Football loss came just four days after the Steelers had lost to another two-win team, the Arizona Cardinals, becoming the first over .500 team in NFL history to lose back-to-back games to teams eight games below .500.

Bailey Zappe threw for threw for three touchdowns, two to tight end Hunter Henry, while Mitch Trubisky answered with one score on a pass to Diontae Johnson. Starting running back Najee Harris managed just 29 yards on 12 carries.

STEELERS-PATRIOTS SERIES

The overall series between the teams is tied, 15-15 and the Steelers have an 11-10 edge in Pittsburgh, but recent years have belonged to the Patriots in the series.
