The Steelers signed cornerback Daryl Porter Jr., quarterback Logan Woodside and tackle Andrus Peat and released long snapper Tucker Addington, guard Nick Broeker and tight end David Foelsch.

Quarterback Will Howard (right pinky finger), wide receiver Calvin Austin III (undisclosed), tackle Calvin Anderson (lower body soft-tissue), outside linebacker Alex Highsmith (groin), cornerback Cory Trice (hamstring) and cornerback Donte Kent (right foot/ankle) are not expected to play this week.

THE LAST TIME

The Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 20-10 at Acrisure Stadium in 2023. Brandon McManus kicked three field goals, while Trevor Lawrence connected with Travis Etienne for a 56-yard touchdown. Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett left the game with a rib injury.

The Steelers and Jaguars last met in the preseason in Jacksonville in 2022.

STEELERS-JAGUARS SERIES

The two teams have met 28 times in the regular season since Jacksonville joined the NFL in 1995. The Jaguars lead the all-time series, 15-13, and have won three of the last five games, including a playoff contest in 2018.

PITTSBURGH CONNECTIONS

Cornerback Levi Wallace spent two seasons with the Steelers from 2022-23.

Tackle Fred Johnson was an undrafted free agent of the Steelers in 2019 and spent his first NFL season in Pittsburgh.

Defensive lineman Austin Johnson, tight end Brenton Strange, wide receiver Parker Washington and offensive lineman Sal Wormley all played at Penn State. Offensive lineman Wyatt Milum played at West Virginia.

Quarterbacks coach Spencer Whipple was born in Gibsonia when his father Mark was quarterbacks coach for the Steelers. He played at Pine-Richland and at Pitt before transferring to UMass, where his father had previously coached, and he played with current Jaguars’ head coach Liam Coen. Whipple was also a graduate assistant at Pitt from 2012-13.

Offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett was the Steelers’ assistant offensive line coach from 2012-18 and offensive line coach from 2019-20.
