PITTSBURGH STEELERS WEEK 12 INJURY REPORT

Two Pittsburgh Steelers upgraded the injury status of two of their players for Sunday’s Week 12 game against the Bears, with both defensive tackle Cam Heyward and cornerback Darius Slay having their injury status removed for the game.

Heyward suffered an ankle injury during practice on Friday, and was seen in the Steelers locker room after practice wearing a walking boot. After being given veteran rest days on Wednesday and Thursday, Heyward was listed as a limited participant in practice and was given a questionable designation, but is now good to go.

Slay suffered a concussion during the Steelers’ Week 10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. He also missed last weeks’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals. This week, he was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday and cleared the NFL concussion protocol, but was listed as limited in participation on Friday and given a questionable designation.

Two other Steelers players still have injury statuses for the game: outside linebacker Alex Highsmith (pec) is doubtful and quarterback Aaron Rodgers (fractured left wrist) is questionable.

Rodgers has been pushing to play on Sunday against the Bears, but Steelers doctors have been more cautious and guarded, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Schefter notes that if the decision is left to Rodgers, he will play, but the team has declined to provide hints as to its final decision.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Rodgers is hoping to take the decision up to game time. Doctors have been cautious, but Rodgers wants to go and believes he can protect himself.

STEELERS TRANSACTIONS

The Steelers re-signed quarterback/wide receiver John Rhys Plumlee to their practice and have released safety Jack Henderson as a corresponding transaction. The Steelers brought back Plumlee to help prepare for Caleb Williams’ elusiveness.

The Steelers hosted three wide receivers for tryouts on Tuesday, according to the NFL transactions page.
