Quarterback Will Howard, the Steelers sixth-round pick (No. 185), will wear No. 18. It is the same number he has worn throughout his entire football career, starting in high school, at Kansas State and then Ohio State. Wide receiver Diontae Johnson was the last player to wear No. 18 for the Steelers in 2023.
Running back Kaleb Johnson, Pittsburgh’s third-round pick (No. 83), will wear No. 20. Johnson wore No. 2 during his collegiate career at Iowa, but that is already taken by quarterback Mason Rudolph. Cornerback Cameron Sutton wore No. 20 last season.
Outside linebacker Jack Sawyer, the Steelers fourth-round pick (No. 123), will wear No. 33. It is the same number has wore during his collegiate career at Ohio State. Running back Aaron Shampklin joins Sawyer in wearing No. 33 on the current roster.
Cornerback Donte Kent, the second of Pittsburgh’s two seventh-round picks (No. 229), will wear No. 34. Kent wore No. 4 at Central Michigan, but that is already taken by wide receiver DK Metcalf. Cornerback Chandon Sullivan was the last player to wear No. 34 for the Steelers in 2023.
Linebacker Carson Bruener, the first of the Steelers two seventh-round picks (No. 226), will wear No. 44. Bruener wore No. 42 at Washington, but that is already taken by cornerback James Pierre. Linebacker Tyler Matakevich wore No. 44 last season.
Defensive tackle Yahya Black, Pittsburgh’s fifth-round pick (No. 164), will wear No. 78. Black wore No. 94 at Iowa, but that is already taken by defensive tackle Dean Lowry.
Defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, the Steelers first-round pick (No. 21), will wear No. 99, which was previously announced.

Pittsburgh also announced the jersey numbers for its crop of undrafted free agents.
Safety Sebastian Castro and kicker Ben Sauls will wear No. 29. Fullback DJ Thomas-Jones will wear No. 48. Guard Aiden Williams will wear No. 71. Wide receiver Roc Taylor will wear No. 81. Wide receiver Ke’Shawn Williams will wear No. 85. Tight end JJ Galbreath will wear No. 87.
