Who are the 10 best players on the Steelers’ roster?
As we get closer to the 2025 NFL season (The Hall of Fame Game is just 66 days away), just about every roster around the NFL is close to complete. Of course, rosters will be trimmed from over 80 guys down to 53 before the season kicks off in September, but the high-end players for just about every team are cemented.
With that in mind, Derrick Bell of Steelers Now ranked who he believes to be the 10 best players on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ roster and they are as follows:
10. EDGE Nick Herbig
9. TE Pat Freiermuth
8. CB Joey Porter Jr
7. EDGE Alex Highsmith
6. LB Patrick Queen
5. WR DK Metcalf
4. S Minkah Fitzpatrick
3. C Zach Frazier
2. DT Cam Heyward
1. EDGE T.J. Watt
There will be some disagreements with every ranking. For starters, I would be perfectly fine swapping Alex Highsmith for DeShon Elliott. Herbig, in my opinion, is the second-best edge rusher on the team. Highsmith may be a better run defender, but Herbig also isn’t a slouch when it comes to defending the run.
I would also swap out Pat Freiermuth for Jaylen Warren. Frankly speaking, we need to see more from Freiermuth. The other Pat on the list, Patrick Queen, was also far too inconsistent for me to put him that high.
For my personal list, these are the guys I would pick.
10. LB Patrick Queen
9. RB Jaylen Warren
8. EDGE Nick Herbig
7. S DeShon Elliott
6. S Minkah Fitzpatrick
5. CB Joey Porter Jr
4. WR DK Metcalf
3. C Zach Frazier
2. DT Cam Heyward
1. EDGE T.J. Watt
