The Pittsburgh Steelers are adding longtime Washington Commanders scout Tim Gribble to their scouting department, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

Gribble spent 24 seasons with Washington’s scouting department. Last year was his fifth season as the director of college personnel. He was promoted to the role on Jan. 14, 2020. He was previously an area scout for 16 years

The Steelers director of college scouting is currently Dan Colbert, while Pittsburgh’s director of player scouting is Mark Sadowski. Wilson did not note what position Gibble will hold in the department.

Before joining Washington in 2002, Gribble spent two seasons with the Steelers scouting department. In addition, Gribble played his college ball at Duquesne and is from Brownsville Pa., which is 35 miles south of Pittsburgh.

Gribble played fullback at Duquesne from 1992 to 1996. Following his playing career, he became Duquesne’s special teams coordinator, which he held until 2000. He also served as the defensive line coach from 1996-1998, and running backs coach from 1998-2000.

The Steelers have underwent a massive overhaul of their scouting staff since Omar Khan took over as general manager in May of 2022. Steelers assistant general manager Andy Weidl interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons general manger position this past week.

Weidl has been the Steelers’ assistant general manager since 2022, and has been the right-hand man of Steelers general manager Omar Khan, specifically when it comes to scouting and the draft.

According to Nick Korte of Over The Cap, the Steelers are projected to receive compensatory picks in the third round for offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr., fourth round for quarterback Justin Fields and two in the sixth round for quarterback Russell Wilson and cornerback Donte Jackson.

Pittsburgh is now projected to have 12 total picks in this year’s draft, with its first coming at No. 21 overall in the first round.
