The Steelers signed cornerback Tre Flowers to the practice squad Wednesday, the team announced.

Flowers was originally signed to the Steelers’ 53-man roster on Christmas Day, taking the spot vacated by wide receiver D.K. Metcalf after he was placed on the suspended list. After Metcalf was brought back, Flowers was released.

The Steelers don’t have to release anyone from their practice squad to make room for Flowers as the team let go of offensive tackle David Sharpe on Tuesday.

Flowers played two special teams snaps for Pittsburgh in the Steelers’ loss to the Cleveland Browns Week 17. The 2018 fifth-round pick has appeared in 98 games over his NFL career.

The Steelers will next take the field on Monday against the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs.
