Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers struggled Sunday after a promising start against the Seattle Seahawks. Rodgers finished his day with just one touchdown pass, to two interceptions. Pittsburgh lost to Seattle, 31-17.

The veteran gunslinger threw for just 203 yards, on 33 pass attempts. He had 18 completions. Against pressure, Rodgers really seemed rattled.

“Aaron Rodgers under pressure today (via NextGenStats): 3/11, 36 yards, 1 INT, 2.8 passer rating, 3 sacks,” NFL podcaster Nate Tice posted to Bluesky.

The loss really cooled excitement around the Steelers this season. Rodgers actually tied former teammate Brett Favre in the first half, in all-time NFL touchdown passes. Rodgers threw his 508th career touchdown pass when he connected with DK Metcalf in the second quarter.

That would prove to be Pittsburgh’s only touchdown of the day. The Steelers are now 1-1 on the season.

Steelers struggled to move the football against Seahawks

Pittsburgh’s offense could not find any firepower in Week 2 of the NFL season. The Steelers gained just 267 total yards of offense in the game. When the squad was able to mount a drive, it frequently had to settle for field goals.

The Steelers looked very different, after their solid offensive performance Week 1 against the New York Jets. Rodgers threw four touchdown passes in the team’s win over the Jets. Two of those touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter.

Week 2 turned out to be a completely different story. The Steelers posted just 3 points in the second half of their game with the Seahawks. That is unacceptable to Steelers fans, who want the team to reach the AFC Playoffs and win games in the postseason.

Pittsburgh’s defense did not fare much better. The team’s secondary allowed 278 passing yards to Seattle. Pittsburgh will need to find answers in the weeks ahead, in order to win games in the AFC North.

The Steelers next play the New England Patriots on Sunday September 21.
