The Pittsburgh Steelers draft slot for the 2026 NFL Draft is now finalized after Monday night’s Wild Card loss to the Houston Texans.
The Steelers hold the 21st overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which will be held in Pittsburgh.
The Steelers held the 21st overall pick in the draft last year, as well. Before that, the last No. 21 overall pick was in 1990. Tight end Eric Green out of Liberty was the selection. Hall of Fame wide receiver Lynn Swann (1974), linebacker Robin Cole (1977), defensive tackle Gabriel Rivera (1983) and Derrick Harmon (2025) are the other 21st overall picks in franchise history.
With the Steelers losing in the Wild Card Round five out of the last six years, Pittsburgh has been accustomed to picking in the early 20s. The Steelers picked running back Najee Harris at 24th overall in 2020 and then selected quarterback Kenny Pickett and offensive tackle Troy Fautanu at 20th overall in 2022 and 2024.
The Steelers head into the offseason with a major question mark at the quarterback position. Head coach Mike Tomlin’s future with the Steelers is also unclear.
Selecting the next franchise quarterback could come in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Rodgers won’t make an emotional decision regarding his future.
“I was fortunate to play in an incredible football city for 18 years. I never took it for granted. I enjoyed that time there and this has been a really beautiful backend to that first 18,” Rodgers said after Monday night’s loss.
“There’s only a few really special places in the league that have the tradition and the town and the organization, and I’m thankful to have played for two of them.”
Tomlin was asked about his future with the team after Sunday night’s 30-6 loss to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round. Tomlin was rather mum in his response.
“I’m not even in that mindset as I sit here tonight,” Tomlin said. “I’m more in the mindset of what transpired in this stadium, and certainly what we did and didn’t do. Not a big-picture mentality as I sit here tonight.”
