The division may be up for grabs.
Two NFC South teams had their bye in week 11, but that did not stop the race for first place from getting very interesting.
Regular Season record 3-7
The Carolina Panthers had their bye in week 11, which might have been for the best. Without losing, the Panthers could have a real chance for first place in the division. Carolina was 2-0 going into the bye week, and former number one overall pick Bryce Young has been playing better. In week 12, the Panthers face a formidable opponent in the Kansas City Chiefs. Carolina’s odds of winning this game are low, but not zero.
Regular Season record 6-5
Two weeks ago, the Falcons looked to be the main favorite in the NFC South. The Buccaneers were the only close team, but they were on a losing streak, while the Falcons were on a winning streak. As many Saints fans know, Atlanta lost to New Orleans in a close game in week 10. This week, the Falcons were dominated by the Denver Broncos. The final score of the matchup was 38-6, and Atlanta was never in this game. The Broncos defense set the tone early and helped rookie Bo Nix have a career day. Kirk Cousins could not do much against the lockdown Broncos’ DBs. Cousins ended the game with only 173 passing yards and one interception. Usually, if Cousins has a down game, the Falcons rushing attack carriers the offense. Against the Broncos, the leading rusher for Atlanta only had 35 yards. As I mentioned, Bo Nix had a career day and achieved his first 300-yard passing game. The Falcons were horrible in pass defense, and the pass rush did not do much to affect Nix. The Atlanta Falcons are on a two-game losing streak going into their bye week and now only have a slight lead in the division.
Regular Season record 4-6
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the other team on their bye in week 11. Just like with the Panthers, this was probably for the best. By being in second place, Tampa Bay sees the gap between them and first place shrink, with the Falcons losing against the Broncos. The Buccaneers needed this bye week. They are on a four-game losing streak, and the injuries on this team continue to pile up. Unlike with the Panthers, Tampa Bay faces an easy opponent in week 12, the New York Giants.
Regular Season record 4-7
The New Orleans Saints are coming off a massive division win against the Atlanta Falcons, and the morale was extremely high going into week 11. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi hoped to grow as an NFL head coach and lead the Saints to another win. These hopes came true against the Cleveland Browns, with the score ending 35-14. Darren Rizzi coached a great game. The time management was really good, the confidence he...
