The NFL will have a very different look next season, as is the case every year. And two big-name quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford, could be on the move.
Rodgers’ time with the New York Jets is officially over, with the team having made it clear to him that his services will not be required moving forward. However, there are no assurances of him remaining in the league at the moment.
The team announced their decision to move on from the veteran QB on Thursday, and whether or not he chooses to keep playing now remains to be seen.
Rodgers flew to New York last week to meet with the team to discuss his future, which indicates that there was a willingness to continue playing. But the man has always been full of surprises.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Rams are thought to be keen on lowering the age of the squad ahead of next season and have already revealed that they will be trading veteran wideout, Cooper Kupp. It’s suspected that Stafford could be on the move as well.
Rodgers and Stafford are both Super Bowl winners and have lots of experience playing at the highest level. The former is a four-time regular-season MVP, a Super Bowl MVP, and a four-time First Team All-Pro, while the latter is a two-time Pro Bowler with the tie for most fourth-quarter comebacks in league history. He was also the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2011.
Given that both men could be available in the offseason, fans from various teams have begun speculating over their futures.
**“I would be content with Darnold, Stafford, or Rodgers at QB for the 2025 Raiders,” a Las Vegas Raiders fan shared on X.
**“I’d rather sign Aaron Rodgers to a 1-year deal than trade premium draft picks for Matthew Stafford. There I said it,” a New York Giants fan chimed in.
“And by the way since im in my own little world this morning give me Rodgers over Stafford any day of the week and twice on sunday,” another Giants fan said.
“If I’m the Steelers, I’m trading for Stafford or getting Aaron Rodgers as my quarterback next season. I have this slight feeling that Minnesota will somehow end up with Aaron Rodgers,” someone else suggested.
If it comes to that, Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford’s moves should be among the biggest football stories heading into next season.
Stafford should be more in demand, given that he is four years younger and had a much better campaign as he led the Rams to the Divisional Round of the playoffs and was the only one who got to within a shot of beating the Philadelphia Eagles en route to their Super Bowl win.
Rodgers, meanwhile, missed the playoffs with the Jets.
