Suspicions about Taylor Swift being a business boon for the National Football League have now been confirmed, as a new report has put a number on how much she’s earned the league since she began dating Travis Kelce in 2023, and that number is north of $1 billion.
Given Taylor Swift’s popularity with the female demographic and the rapid loyalty of her core fanbase, her entering the NFL world was always going to help bring some new eyeballs to the already dominant sport.
The actual data behind Swift’s monetary contribution to the NFL, however, puts her impact in far bigger perspective, as she’s now earned the NFL over $1 billon in “total equivalent brand value.”
“From Sep. 24, 2023, to Jan. 28, 2024 — the date of that year’s AFC Championship game — Swift created $366,753,290 in total equivalent brand value for the NFL, according to data provided to MarketWatch from Apex Marketing, a company that specializes in advertising and branding services.”
“In the year since, Swift has helped the NFL even more, according to Apex, creating an estimated $634,304,163 in equivalent brand value from the day after the 2024 AFC Championship through Jan. 27, the day after the 2025 AFC Championship.” [via MarketWatch]
Just to put that number — a total of $1,001,057,453 — into further perspective, reports indicate that the NFL earned $2.49 billion in sponsorship revenue last season.
Luckily for NFL fans who were tired of the attention that T. Swift received on game days, the 2024 season may be the last time she cheers Travis Kelce on from the stands as reports indicate he is weighing up retirement this offseason.
In Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce had just 4 catches for 39 yards, which came after a season in which he put up the lowest yardage total (823 receiving yards) and receiving touchdowns (3) of his career bar his rookie season in 2013.
