Despite not practicing for what is going on four weeks, Matthew Stafford has secured a new media role for the 2025 NFL season. The Rams QB will replace former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick as a co-host on the “Let’s Go!” podcast, according to NBC Sports’ Mike Florio. Tom Brady, Maxx Crosby, and Larry Fitzgerald have also held stints as co-hosts.

This news likely won’t sit well with Rams fans considering that Stafford sat out all of training camp with back soreness. Sean McVay promised his quarterback would take the field on Monday before abruptly reversing course. Los Angeles has Super Bowl expectations in 2025. They likely won’t get there without Stafford on the field and playing at a high level.

Stafford dipping his toe in the media realm likely signals his plans for life after football, which was also suggested by Florio. The veteran QB has also appeared on the Fox NFL Sunday pre-game show in the past when the Rams’ schedule allows.

How soon will we see Stafford hang up his cleats? Well, it certainly is pending his return to health. The Rams are equipped with two first-round selections in next year’s NFL Draft and will likely be on the hunt for their next franchise quarterback. Modern rookie quarterbacks are usually ready to take the mantle day one, which suggests that LA could be prepared for the post-Stafford era as soon as 2026.
