Speculation Suggests New York Jets Could Trade All-Pro

After starting their season with seven losses and zero wins, it’s safe to say the New York Jets are a complete mess in first-year head coach Aaron Glenn’s first season. After some very public and pointed criticism from owner Woody Johnson, the Jets appear poised to make a change to their starting lineup, likely benching Justin Fields for Tyrod Taylor.

Yet, more roster changes could be on the way, especially with the NFL trade deadline approaching quickly. Teams have until just Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. ET to strike a trade.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, “teams are keeping an eye on the Jets ahead of the trade deadline.” Schultz tossed out several Jets who could be potential trade candidates, including All-Pro linebacker Quincy Williams. The other names Schultz mentioned were: Breece Hall, Jermaine Johnson II, Will McDonald IV, Michael Carter II, and Allen Lazard.

While some of those players, such as Hall and Williams, would be building blocks for other NFL franchises, all bets could be off for a Jets team with first-year general manager Darren Mougey possibly angling for ways to “figure out” which players are buying into coach Glenn.

The Jets have several players who could be dealt before the trade deadline. Some players, such as Allen Lazard, seem like strong bets to move on, especially considering they added him last season in large part to his familiarity with Aaron Rodgers, who has since moved on to a Pittsburgh team seeking receiver help.

Meanwhile, the Jets may shop other players simply to get an idea of what type of trade value other teams would be willing to part with. After all, if the Jets don’t see a specific player as part of their foundation, why not improve their odds at adding someone who is?
