The Pittsburgh Steelers are adding future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers for less than $20 million. On Saturday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed the specific figures of the four-time NFL MVP’s deal with the Steelers in a post on X.

“ESPN sources: Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers was in the team’s training facility today to sign his one-year, $13.65 million contract that includes $10 million guaranteed and has a maximum value of $19.5 million,” Schefter wrote. “The deal includes $5.85 million worth of playtime and team performance incentives.”

Rodgers putting pen to paper officially ends the months-long speculation as to whether he was going to suit up in the Steel City. Pittsburgh’s other three quarterbacks currently on the roster are Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and Will Howard.

Schefter reported Thursday that Mike Tomlin was a huge factor in Rodgers deciding to play his 21st NFL season in Pittsburgh. Rodgers spent the last two campaigns with the New York Jets.

“Steelers never wavered in their belief that Aaron Rodgers eventually would sign with Pittsburgh,” Schefter said on X. “Steelers HC Mike Tomlin loomed large in this entire situation. Tomlin was a drawing card for Rodgers, and was happy to work within Rodgers’ timeline. He is a major reason will be a Steeler.”

Since Ben Roethlisberger retired, the Steelers have cycled through Mitch Trubisky, Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, Russell Wilson, and Justin Fields as starting quarterbacks. Wilson signed with the New York Giants this offseason, while Fields relocated to join the Jets, Rodgers’ former team. Pittsburgh plays the Jets to begin the regular season on Sept. 7.
