South Philly Home Listing Features One of the Best Eagles Basements You Will Ever See

Shout out to RigaTony on X for bringing this to our attention:

Came across this on Zillow. A single recliner in a half finished basement of a south philly row home. You just know this is the angriest eagles dad around. @CBKylePagan @CrossingBroad pic.twitter.com/LYYwMPtApJ

What a basement this is. Just perfect. If you close your eyes and drift off, you can picture an incensed dad yelling at the TV because Donovan McNabb just threw a pass at Todd Pinkston’s feet, right into the ground. A classic worm burner. Then McNabb was caught smiling on the sidelines while the Eagles are in an absolute rock fight with the Cleveland Browns.

The listing has two more basement photos:

The house is located south of Oregon Avenue, like way South Philly, walking distance to the stadiums. There’s a lot going on here, but some particular things I noticed:

  • the cluttered side table with the ash tray, mini helmets, and replica of Veterans Stadium
  • the 1990s curved CD rack and smaller DVD rack placed in front of the water main
  • the TV stand without a TV, which you know at some point in time held a bulky tube that weighed a hundred pounds
  • the labeled VHS tapes on the bottom rack
  • the plunger, which appears to be placed next to a bugle (?) in front of a paint can holding a trash can or some kind of bucket
  • the carpeted brown stairs
  • the unfinished floor with stains all over it
  • the Super Bowl XXXIX poster, properly placed in the back of the room since the Eagles lost that game
  • the most 1990s recliner you will ever see
  • a framed photo of David Akers to go along with framed photos of B Dawk, Reggie White, and some other Eagles greats
  • the slot machine piggy bank
  • the “EAGLES FANS ONLY” caution tape
  • a desk with a filing cabinet that only has bobbleheads and sports memorabilia
  • an Eagles sweatshirt hanging on some kind of rack
  • a floor lamp with no shade

Great basement. It’s raw, grimy, and, most importantly, authentic. This is the perfect snapshot of the 1990s/early 2000s Philadelphia Eagles dad or uncle, sitting by himself in the recliner and demanding that the Eagles run the ball. This guy definitely paid his dues through the Richie Kotite and Ray Rhodes eras. You would have loved to watch a game with him because you know he’s a classic, diehard, South Philly Birds fan.
