It won’t be long before a familiar Pittsburgh Steelers surname is called on Saturdays.
Paisios Polamalu, son of ex-Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, recently announced his commitment to Stanford.
The younger Polamalu, rated a three-star talent by 247Sports’ composite rankings, visited Palo Alto last month, per the same recruiting service. He was a two-way standout for St. Augustine (Calif.) — a San Diego-area private school — last season, taking snaps at safety and running back. Paisios Polamalu piled up 108 tackles, five tackles for loss, 10 pass breakups, six interceptions and a fumble recovery. On the other side of the ball, he racked up 1,530 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns on 250 gives.
The elder Polamalu, who played for the Steelers from 2003-14 and was a four-time first-team Associated Press All-Pro, earned a pair of first-team All-American nods during his college career at USC. His son attended a Trojans camp a little over a week before he visited Stanford in June.
Paisios, who also wears No. 43, previously told Fox 5 San Diego his “dream school has always been USC, just because my dad’s been there. I’ll be grateful for any college that accepts me, offers me, or anything. All of them, it’s just a blessing.”
The younger Polamalu also had offers from Arizona and New Mexico.
