Some Thoughts on Kyle Pagan Attempting to Run 18.5 MPH
Crossing Broad Crossing Broad

I have to be careful with this post since Pagan has video of me whiffing on 15 pitches in a row inside the Victus batting cage, and can unleash the film in a retaliatory fashion, but have a look:

The mechanics don’t make any sense. The strides are way too short for somebody who is 6’5″. It’s almost like he’s Olympic speedwalking because his feet are barely coming off the ground. Need more legs and less arms in general.

The arm motion itself is a little wide. He’s got the slicing mechanics down, but the arms need to be tucked in more, more in line with the body for maximum aerodynamics. And then at the end, I think that was the car going 22 mph and triggering the radar.

But make no mistake, Pagan does have athleticism. I was there when he demolished everyone else in the beer mile. He drank the equivalent of eight Miller Lites while lapping some of us in the process. It wasn’t even close. He was the top performer at the Crossing Broad Phield Day and won the thing outright. So that’s more of his speed, drinking and running in a more relaxed, cross country style. Sprinting does not appear to be a strength.
