On Super Bowl Sunday, it was reported that the New York Jets had informed controversial future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers that the team would be moving in another direction. Some Jets players didn’t seem too thrilled about this news.
While some Gang Green players — such as running back Breece Hall — seem to be relieved that the franchise is abandoning the disastrous Aaron Rodgers experiment, others such as lineman Quinnen Williams feel the opposite.
After news of Rodgers probable departure from the Jets broke, Williams too to social media to react to the news and seemed none-too-thrilled. Williams was drafted by the Jets with the third overall pick the in 2019 NFL Draft and is now heading into his seventh season with the team, with the previous six all being losing seasons.
“Another rebuild year for me I guess,” Williams posted on social media before later deleting it.

“If it was up to me, he’s coming back,” Williams said about Rodgers earlier this year. “On the field and off the field, he’s a great person. He takes our game to another level.”
“He does a great job of making everyone around him better, which is a very, very key attribute to have in being a good leader, which every quarterback should be. Obviously I’d like to have him back,” defensive end Jermaine Johnson said.
According to reports, when the Jets met with Rodgers to discuss potentially continuing their relationship, they told the four-time MVP that, just like the rest of his teammates, he’d have to participate in all of training camp, and that he could no longer go on The Pat McAfee Show for his weekly therapy sessions.
Given that the New York Jets have the longest active playoff drought across the four major American professional sports leagues (NFL, NHL, NBA, and MLB), it’s clear that whatever they’ve been doing for the last decade plus has not been working and a change is needed, and new head coach Aaron Glenn seems prepared to bring about that change.
