Football fans had mixed reactions to a viral photo of New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart posing for a picture with a cougar that he captured and killed while hunting.

When he’s not playing or practicing football, Dart devotes much of his spare time to hunting in the wilderness. The No. 25 selection of the 2025 NFL Draft frequently posts photos of the animals he hunted, which predictably leads to mixed responses from fans.

Dov Kleiman recently shared an old viral photo of Dart holding up a giant cougar that he caught during a hunting trip, pointing out the quarterback’s passion for hunting:

The Giants had to restart at quarterback this offseason after finally cutting ties with Daniel Jones, a year after handing him a $160 million extension. GM Joe Schoen signed veterans and former Pro Bowlers Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston before trading up via the Houston Texans to select Dart at No. 25 overall.

After trading up to select Dart, Giants head coach Brian Daboll emphasized that Wilson is the starting quarterback. Of course, that could change if Wilson struggles and/or if Dart exceeds expectations in training camp and preseason.

Giants Can Afford To Be Patient With Jaxson Dart

Schoen wisely signed Wilson and Winston to cheap one-year deals, which gives the Giants plenty of time to develop Dart. They rushed Jones in his 2019 rookie year after benching Eli Manning, and we saw how that played out for the former.
