Sorry, Philadelphia Eagles players, coaches and fans: You’ll have to think of another excuse if your team loses to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59.
The Chiefs and Eagles will play on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans for the Lombardi Trophy. This is a rematch of Super Bowl 57, which Kansas City won 38-35 at the Arizona Cardinals’ home venue, State Farm Stadium.
You may recall that the field used for Super Bowl 57 was a problem for both teams, with players slipping all over the place. Then-Eagles star edge rusher Haason Reddick said the field “was the worst field that I’ve ever played on”, with offensive tackle Jordan Mailata comparing it to “a water park.”
Well, social media detectives quickly went to work in reminding the Eagles that they’re out of excuses if they lose to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59: The playing surface won’t be a problem on Sunday since the Superdome uses turf:

As unfortunate as it was that Super Bowl 57 was played on a slippery surface, it affected both teams. The Chiefs weren’t at an advantage there, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes played with a bad ankle that day.
Any Super Bowl rematch is enticing enough, but there’s a lot at stake for the Eagles and Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. The Chiefs have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to complete the three-peat, but an Eagles victory would mark their second Super Bowl in eight seasons.
If Philly wins that game, they’ll have ended KC’s three-peat bid and put themselves closer to dynastic status. Throw in all the star power on both sides, and you have the makings for an epic Super Bowl.
