If history repeats itself, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Cinderella 2025 season will end with disappointment on Sunday.
Liam Coen’s Jacksonville Jaguars claimed the AFC South division crown with a 13-4 record, the franchise’s best finish since the 1999 squad that went 14-2. Jacksonville will host reigning MVP Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card Round on Sunday.
Referee Brad Allen and his crew will officiate the game on Sunday. Disgruntled football fans already believe the referees have “rigged” the game for Buffalo, as the Bills have won their last six games with Allen serving as the official.
But there’s another piece of history that works against the Jaguars. As noted by the @trendscenterapp X/Twitter account, Jacksonville is 0-23 in games with an over/under total of 49 points or higher since 2007.

Something has to give, though. The Bills haven’t won a playoff game on the road since 1992, so one of these streaks is bound to end soon.

The Sunday over/under total is set at 51.5.

Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. EST.
Per Pro Football Reference, Josh Allen is 2-2 in his career against the Jags. He has seven touchdowns, three interceptions and a 96.6 passer rating. He lost his first two head-to-head matchups against Trevor Lawrence (2021 and 2023), but led Buffalo to a 47-10 blowout win in their 2024 meeting.
Allen has won his last five Wild Card Round playoff games. But he’s 0-4 on the road in the postseason, including three losses at Arrowhead Stadium to Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs.
All six Wild Card Round games have plenty of hype and anticipation. But there’s a case to be made that this is the best game on the slate. After all, it’s not too often that arguably the league’s best QB must begin the playoffs on the road against a former No. 1 pick.
