Football fans are saying the same thing about the security guard who was just a few feet away from the altercation between Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf and a Detroit Lions fan.

The interaction between DK Metcalf and a Detroit fan happened in the second quarter. Metcalf apparently grew upset over something the fan said and then punched him in the face.

You can blame the fan, Metcalf or both for things getting out of hand here. But fans also pointed out another obvious issue: Why in the world didn’t the security guard beside Metcalf step in and try to break it up?

“Where was Lions’ security and why in the world would there be a scenario where this is allowed to occur?” a fan asked.

Where were his teammates or coaches or Steelers staff members?

In no way does that excuse Metcalf, but this shouldn’t even be possible. https://t.co/tOcnwzMhy8

“What is Lions security doing by letting a fan hang over the railing like that to taunt DK Metcalf?” asked a user.

“Please advise me. Are the aisle, bench area security, and ushers assigned to prevent fan interaction with players? It appears that the fan lured Metcalf in for a signature then berated him?” a fan remarked.

Why can the NFL buzz down from New York to change calls against the Lions, but they can’t to get this idiot ejected from the game? #OnePride
