Then, he would have been well-advised to have acted like he wanted to stay
I was not going to write about Odell Beckham Jr.’s recent “never, ever wanted to leave the New York Giants” comment. Feelings about Beckham’s time with the Giants are deeply entrenched among fans, and reopening that conversation isn’t going to change any minds.
Beckham, however, went there. And the reaction to the opinion I posted Sunday evening on YouTube tells me it is a a topic Giants fans want to discuss. So, here we are.
You can watch the full 15-minute podcast below for everything I said regarding Beckham’s eventual exit from New York.
My opinion comes down to this — Beckham’s exit from New York was Beckham’s own fault. He acted like anything but a player who never wanted to leave the Giants.
Instead, he acted like the organization that had just handed him a mega-contract was holding him back. He acted like the future Hall of Fame quarterback throwing him the ball wasn’t good enough. He acted like the team wasn’t good enough for him. When asked by Anderson if he was happy in New York, he said that was a “tough question.”
I was hoping to hear some recognition from an older, supposedly more mature, Beckham that he understands that he caused his own exit from the Giants. That didn’t happen.
So, go ahead, Giants fans. Sound off on Beckham’s departure from the team and/or my take on said departure. My full podcast on it is below.
