Week 10 Sunday Night Football. Tonight the 6-3 Los Angeles Chargers host the 5-3 Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers come into this game in first place in the AFC North after a big win over the Indianapolis Colts last week. The victory last week followed two straight losses in the prior two weeks. The Steelers have made the most of their opportunities this season. Despite ranking 28th in the NFL in yards gained and 30th in yards allowed the Steelers have managed to stay atop the AFC North standings, largely because of a favorable turnover differential. The Steelers have generated 16 turnovers on defense while surrendering just 7 turnovers on offense. They have lost the turnover battle just twice this season, hence the winning record despite the pedestrian statistics. Aaron Rodgers has settled into the role of a nice game manager quarterback, throwing for career low averages in yards per game and passing first downs per game, but he protects the ball and has taken advantage of his red zone opportunities, which has been enough thus far.
The 6-3 Los Angeles Chargers come into this game winners of three of their last four games. They are currently in second place in the highly competitive AFC West division. The Chargers rank 5th in the NFL in yards gained and 6th in yards allowed, but turnovers have been their undoing. The Chargers have a -4 turnover differential. They have won the turnover battle just twice this season. If the Chargers can’t find a way to win the turnover battle against a Steelers team that rarely loses that battle, this could be a long night for the Chargers.
It’s the Chargers and the Steelers tonight on Sunday Night Football. Enjoy the game everybody.
