Las Vegas Raiders minority owner could help lure quality free agents to the roster and improve the team in 2025
The Las Vegas Raiders are getting ready for the NFL Combine this week. However, right after the combine comes free agency and the Raiders are second in cap space. It could allow them to spend money and land key players to improve the roster.
John Spytek will work to find the best players who fit the culture they intend to create. This time around, a seven-time Super Bowl champion will be in the building for the Raiders.
Tom Brady became a minority owner for the Raiders in 2024 and was part of the search that landed Pete Caroll and Spytek. Mike Florio reported on a tweet by Vinny Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Brady will be an adviser with free agency, which can attract higher-quality players for a team that finished 4-13 last season.
Consider this tweet from Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “Something to keep an eye on, per sources: the persuasiveness of Tom Brady as a recruiter for the Raiders. It will make things interesting during free agency. And maybe even in the trade market. It’s why you can’t rule out Matthew Stafford as an option.”
On one hand, Brady’s presence didn’t deliver Ben Johnson to the Raiders as head coach. On the other hand, John Elway’s status as a Hall of Fame, GOAT-level quarterback helped deliver quarterback Peyton Manning to the Broncos 13 years ago when Peyton had many suitors.
The presence of the former New England Patriots has had a positive impact during this offseason. If it leads to the top-of-the-market free agents signing with the Raiders, it could ease fans' minds going into the 2025 season.
