Silver Minings: Raiders not over spending at wide receiver

Team has gotten younger at position

Call this the Davante Adams affect.

The Las Vegas Raiders are no longer going to carry one of the most expensive wide-receiver groups in the NFL.

A recent tweet by NFL analyst Warren Sharp showed the expected salary-cap price tag for every NFL team at the wide-receiver position. The Raiders came in just below average at 17th with an estimated expected wide-receiver room price tag of $26.9 million. Of course, there will be tinkering that that number will change some, but the Raiders should end up right around the middle of the pack when it comes to spending at the position.

In the recent past, Las Vegas was always near the top of league spending at the position because they traded for and signed big-money receiver Davante Adams in 2022. But he came off the books last October when he was dealt to the New York Jets.

The Raiders are very young at the position now. So, that accounts for the big spending swing.
