Silver Minings: Raiders continue to sink in AFC West

The 2025 season is quickly slipping away and may even be out of the Las Vegas Raiders’ grasp already after the Week 5 blowout loss to the Indianapolis Colts. That pushes the Raiders into a deeper hole as we take a look at the rest of the AFC West.

Broncos vs. Eagles

Score: 21-17 Broncos win

Key Stats:

  • QB Bo Nix: 24/39, 242 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs, 3 rushes, 22 yards
  • RB JK Dobbins: 20 carries, 79 yards, 1 TD
  • WR Courtland Sutton: 8 catches, 99 yards
  • TE Evan Engram: 4 catches, 33 yards, 1 TD
  • EDGE Nik Bonitto: 4 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 2 TFLs
  • CB Patrick Surtain II: 6 tackles, 2 PDs

Don’t look now, but the Denver Broncos are starting to get hot. After dropping back-to-back games in Weeks 2 and 3, the Broncos have pulled themselves back over .500 with consecutive wins, one being over the defending champs. Granted, Denver needed some help to pull this one out. The team’s offense didn’t do anything until the fourth quarter, trailing 17-3 heading into the final frame. So, it took a collapse by the Eagles and a questionable non-call at the end of the game to give the Broncos the victory. But Denver deserves credit for fighting back, and the defense managed to get six sacks against Philadelphia’s offensive line.

Chargers vs. Commanders

Score: 10-27 Chargers lose

Key Stats:

  • QB Justin Herbert: 22/29, 166 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 4 rushes, 60 yards
  • RB Omarion Hampton: 12 carries, 44 yards, 6 catches, 26 yards
  • WR Keenan Allen: 5 catches, 58 yards
  • WR Ladd McConkey: 5 catches, 39 yards, 1 TD
  • LB Troy Dye: 11 tackles, 3 TFLs
  • CB Tarheeb Still: 4 tackles, 2 PDs

Trending in the opposite direction, the Los Angeles Chargers have dropped two games in a row after starting the season hot. Los Angeles’ offensive line is currently struggling without starting offensive tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt. Slater has been out all season and won’t play this year, and Alt exited last week’s game in the first quarter and sat out on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Chargers have struggled to run the ball, Herbert was sacked four times (and Trey Lance once), and the team’s two-game lead on the division is completely wiped away.
