Rob Leonard will remain the defensive line coach for the Las Vegas Raiders and adding run game coordinator
The Las Vegas Raiders are filling out the coaching staff, and Pete Carroll said he would look at coaches from the previous staff. He decided to keep Patrick Graham as defensive coordinator and Tom McMahon in the same position for special teams.
Late Saturday Night it was announced that he was retaining another coach from the previous staff. Caroll is keeping defensive line coach Rob Leonard on the staff at the same position. Also, he is adding a new duty becoming the run game coordinator for the defense.
Leonard has been in the NFL since 2013, when he became a defensive assistant for the New York Giants. He rose up the ranks becoming linebacker coach for the Miami Dolphins and outside linebacker coach for the Baltimore Ravens. His connection with Patrick Graham from Miami brought him onto the Raiders staff in 2023. His defensive lines have produced 65 sacks in the last two seasons.
Now the Raiders have to start addressing the offensive side of the ball. That side is still empty with no offensive coordinator, even though they are interview candidates. The defensive coaching staff is ready to go.
