New Las Vegas Raiders safety is displaying his leadership during offseason sessions

The Las Vegas Raiders were less active in free agency than they had been in previous years. Most players received one-year deals, with a focus on building through the draft. One of the signees who did a multi-year deal was safety Jeremy Chinn from the Washington Commanders.

Chinn has familiarity with Pete Carroll's system, having played with his former protégé, Dan Quinn, in 2024. It has led to the former Southern Illinois alumnus consistently making plays during OTAs. Patrick Graham has appreciated his leadership and the contributions he has made so far.

“Just in terms of his leadership, he’s very sure of himself because he puts in the work,” Graham said. “And he’s been a sponge in terms of learning how we want to do things, and then all the physical attributes, but all 32 teams know about that. The speed, the size, physicality, ability to tackle and nose for the ball. It’s all been positive there.”

If Chinn can help lead the secondary to overachieve, it can be fruitful for the Raiders in 2025. His ability to be a Swiss army knife, playing in the slot and at safety, makes him a key, versatile piece for the defense. Chinn could be a breakout player for the Raiders this offseason.
