The Las Vegas Raiders had their first practice after a tie in preseason Week 1. While the first half was not that impressive one of the standouts of the game was Jamal Adams. Adams is making the change to linebacker from safety, and at first glance, it appeared to be the right move by head coach Pete Carroll.

Adams was told right away he was moving to the linebacker position when he met with Carroll before signing.

“He straight up told me, ‘You’re going to be in the linebacker room, so get over it. “I was just like, ‘All right, (expletive), let’s do it.”

Adams has embraced the role and feels he can make the change.

“Obviously, you’re closer in the box. And you’re understanding keys, you’re shooting gaps, you’re reading the running backs. So it’s very similar in a lot of ways,” Adams said. “But it’s just a different lens. I’m closer to the guards and the tackles. They can get their hands on me. I got to obviously have great eyes to know what I’m looking at, having the right keys.”

After spending the last two years dealing with injury, Adams is looking to rejuvenate his career with the Silver and Black. His first look last Thursday displayed it might be the perfect fit for Adams, which will allow him to return to becoming one of the better players in the NFL.
