Las Vegas Raiders assistant general manager Champ Kelly is interviewing for the empty Jacksonville Jaguars general manager position
The Las Vegas Raiders added a new general manager this offseason. John Spytek became the GM for the franchise, replacing Tom Telseco after just one season at the helm.
Spytek will be running the show, but the assistant general manager, Champ Kelly, has survived the last two general managers. Kelly hasn’t got a shot with the Raiders yet, and if Spytek is successful, the door might be closed for a promotion.
However, with his strong track record, Kelly is a commodity around the NFL to be a general manager. The Jacksonville Jaguars haven’t filled their GM position after firing Trent Balke to land head coach Liam Cohen. Kelly got the chance to display his resume to the Jaguars and interviewed with the team.
If Kelly can’t land the job with the Raiders, hopefully, it will lead to him finding a spot somewhere else. While the Jaguars haven’t been a stable organization recently, Kelly might be able to come in and help right the ship. His role as a scout of talent has helped the Raiders add good players to the roster during his tenure.
