The Las Vegas Raiders had their first loss of the season on Saturday, but were able to get a good performance from their new young star. Ashton Jeanty had a bounce-back week after struggling in Week 1. He displayed all the attributes that led to him being the number six pick in the draft.
Jeanty finished the day with seven carries for 33 yards and a touchdown. However, he gave every fan a scare on the first drive after taking a checkdown pass from quarterback Geno Smith. Jeanty attempted to run a linebacker over, and even though he won the battle, he had to leave the game temporarily.
The former Heisman Trophy runner-up took it as a learning experience and a welcome to the NFL. He is not playing in the Mountain West anymore and has to learn to protect his body.
“He definitely hit me pretty hard, but I didn’t go down. It definitely was kind of like a little wake-up [call]. And now I’ve got to give it back to y’all.”
Silver and Black fans saw Jeanty truck Deommodore Lenoir during the next series. He is going to have a hard running style, but will have to find a balance when it is time to go for contact.
