Should WR or DL Be Draft Priority? | Steelers Morning Rush
Steelers Now Steelers Now

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s the two position that the Steelers most closely monitored at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama this week, and whether they should prioritize one over the other in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

There will likely be some top talent available to the Steelers to draft at those positions, including players like Emeka Egbuka of Ohio State and Matthew Golden of Texas at wide receiver and Kennth Grant of Michigan, Walter Nolen of Ole Miss, Derrick Harmon of Oregon and Tyleik Williams of Ohio State at defensive tackle.

This is a deep draft class at defensive line, with quality players stretching into the third day, while Egbuka and Golden are two of the surest things at wide receiver, with few star-caliber players that aren’t big risks available beyond the first round.

So should the Steelers grab a wide receiver quickly, or does the run-defense’s collapse down the stretch of the 2024 season justify making that the priority? Alan breaks it down.
