In another disappointing loss for the Cleveland Browns, the offense and special teams were once again the biggest concerns for this team. The run game was uninspiring, and the offensive line continues to look outmatched. It’s challenging to point to just one issue; however, Joe Flacco did not have his best performance against the Baltimore Ravens.
It has caused fans to question whether the team should continue to start Flacco or if the organization should consider giving Dillon Gabriel a chance. Will this solve their offensive woes, or do the offensive struggles run too deep?
Flacco’s immobility and lack of speed in multiple aspects of the game are making it very challenging for the offense to move the ball and gain any momentum. Although the offensive line and run game struggles will still most likely persist if you swap in a new quarterback, it may be worth a shot to see if the offense can get some momentum with a younger and faster quarterback. Greater success in the passing game might even help open things up in the ground game.
For what it’s worth, HC Kevin Stefanski seemed to try to squash this very discussion after the Ravens loss:
Cleveland faces Micah Parsons and the very talented Green Bay Packers defense this week. This game would not be an ideal matchup to start a rookie for the first time, so it makes the most sense for the Browns to wait a little longer before they make the official move to Gabriel.
Let me know what you think in the comments – Should the Browns stick with Flacco or give Gabriel a shot?
