Should the Browns start Deshaun Watson again or should Shedeur Sanders be the priority?

Deshaun Watson has officially returned to practice after recovering from his Achilles injury in the 2024 season. Watson has a 9-10 record as a starter and has performed below expectations during his time with the Cleveland Browns. His chemistry with his receivers has been lacking, and he has struggled to find consistency in the Browns’ offense.

The Browns are at an uncertain point with the quarterback position due to underwhelming play from both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, as well as their 3-9 record. Cleveland still has Watson under contract through 2026, and they owe him a substantial amount of money on his deal, so it would not be surprising if the team decided to give him a second look.

It would be challenging for many fans to support this decision, given how poorly he has performed in past seasons under his $230 million guaranteed contract. Many believe the team should close the book on this chapter of the franchise’s history and move forward. It would complicate a lot of the decisions that need to be made about the offense for next season, should they bring Watson back into the conversation.

At this point, it makes the most sense to use the remaining offensive snaps this season to see what you have with Sanders or Gabriel. These snaps are extremely valuable for the two rookies, and they will help the front office decide whether they feel they need to draft a quarterback next year.
