Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie reportedly caused a stir on Wednesday during his (successful) campaign to prevent the “tush push” ban.

On Wednesday, news emerged that the Green Bay Packers’ proposal to ban the Eagles’ signature tush push was unsuccessful. The Packers needed 24 teams to vote yes, but they fell short by two (the final tally was 22-10).

According to a report from ESPN’s Seth Wickersham, the tush push discussion featured “a heated exchange” as Jeffrey Lurie made the case to his fellow owners to keep the tush push play legal.

Wickersham reports that Lurie compared the success of the tush push to “a wet dream for a teenage boy.” NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent reportedly called out Lurie for using such a comment in front of multiple women.

“Toward the end of a speech that lasted close to an hour, Lurie made an analogy, telling the room that regardless of whether the play was banned, it was a “win-win” for the Eagles, adding that it was “like a wet dream for a teenage boy” to create a play that was so successful that the only way for it to be stopped was for it to be banned.”

After Lurie finished speaking, executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent chastised the Eagles owner for the “wet dream” comment, specifically for saying it in front of women in the meeting.”

It was also noted that Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula supported the tush push ban, with San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York asking Lurie “how much more sh*t” he had to say.

Eagles legend and former center Jason Kelce also attended the meeting on Wednesday and lobbied against banning the tush push that he helped make famous in his last two NFL seasons.

Lurie may have ruffled some feathers during Wednesday’s meeting in front of his fellow owners, but his heated speech obviously worked.

Jeffrey Lurie’s Eagles Continue To Celebrate Their Second Super Bowl

The Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl 59, denying their repeat bid while clinching the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy in seven years.

That cemented Lurie’s legacy as one of the greatest owners in NFL history. He’s hands-off and lets GM Howie Roseman do his job, knowing that the longtime executive can draft and help develop talent better than any other front office.
